1. Grand Palace – experience the royalty of Thailand

The palace canopy over the shrine features 9 tiers and the complex statue of the Sitting Buddha, a jade block carving dressed in a golden cloak.

2. Wat Pho – visit Bangkok’s largest and oldest temple complex

Built by King Rama I, this Buddhist temple complex is one of the city’s oldest temples. Wat Pho is home to the huge 46m reclining Buddha image. The temple complex also has the largest number of Buddha images in the country, and it’s the earliest centre for public education in Thailand, specialising in literature, science and religion.

3. Giant Swing – family and friends get to visit one of Bangkok’s memorable sites

Located just in front of Wat Suthat, Giant Swing is a religious structure that was built in 1784. The Giant Swing was used as part of Brahmin (Hinduist) ceremonies. The religious ceremonies were held after the rice harvest in December. Giant Swing has managed to stand the test of time, and it’s also a symbol of resolve for Thais.

4. Bangkok National Museum – enjoy the diverse collection of art and history

Originally established by Chulalongkorn (King Rama V), Bangkok National Museum is known to be the main branch museum of Thailand’s National Museums. Bangkok National Museum features exhibits of Thai history and art.

5. Chatuchak Market – visit the largest open-air market in the world

With more than 200,000 visitors every weekend, Chatuchak Market is the largest diverse weekend market in the world. The market has more than 15,000 stalls offering a range of goods including delicious street food, paper lamps, pet supplies, religious icons and jewellery.
